Welcome to my web site, "Allison's Heart." Here you will find poems that express what is truly in my heart. I have been writing since age fourteen and have not stopped since.
My early childhood was spent in Anchorage, Alaska and then later, Adel, Georgia, where I graduated from Cook High School in 1969. After leaving Alaska, I became a Daughter of the South and have lived there since. In the summer of 2001, we moved from our long time home in Durant, Oklahoma to the Gulf Coast of Mississippi. Hurricane Katrina turned many lives upside down in the summer of 2005. We left Biloxi for good following that horrible storm and now reside in Houston, Texas, near our two adult daughters. I have been married to the same man many years and we have three adult children, twin daughters, a son and three grandaughters. There are photos of my family in this site.
 My greatest fulfillment is in writing. I have written hundreds of poems as well as several short stories and songs. My High School Journalism teacher, Reba Patton Mason saw something in my work that I didn't see at that time. Her encouragement during those formative years pushed me to continue writing. Many long year of soul-searching and writing followed, as I watched the reactions of people to my poems. That and the encouragement of many friends was enough to convince me that I needed to move forward in pursuit of my career. I wrote for Home Interiors and Gifts for many years, with them selling my poetry as framed prints.
In the spring of 2005, I signed a contract to provide my work to a new company, KIMBELINA.COM . I look forward to a long career in working with this wonderful family-owned business. |
